Jason and the Golden Fleece

Red-figure Apulian Krater 350 BC. Jason returns with honors to Iolkos after his long trip with the Argonauts and surrenders the Golden Fleece to P elias, where he expects to get his throne back.. Krater is a bowl with a wide mouth, two handles and a foot. Kraters were vessels used for mixing wine with water at special meals called symposia. Kraters were often decorated with scenes of couples dining or relaxing; the scenes on them paralleled those occasions when Kraters were actually used.
